April 15 we will celebrate "Holy Hilarity Sunday" in all three of our local
Churches Sunday services.
Also called "Laughter Sunday," "Humor Sunday," "Light Bulb Sunday." or "Holy
Fools Sunday."
In Latin it is called "Risus Paschalis" - God's Holy Joke, the Easter laugh.
We are all asked to lighten up and recall the joy of the Lord.
We will celebrate God's presence and goodness in the mist of everyday life.
We will tell jokes and funny stories.
We will share inspirational stories and humorous twists of fate.
It is a come as you really are, not in your Sunday best!
In honor of this very special Sunday service we are all asked to lighten up
by wearing our silliest, goofiest hats or caps to Church.
When we celebrate Sunday this way we are to be reminded that our God is also
the God of laughter as well as sorrow.
This way we can show the great joke that God played and won over Sun.

Last week was *Holy Hilarity Day* at our local Church it went very well, the
older the Church member the more likely they were to have fun and act silly.
This was the opposite of what was expected, the younger age the so called
20+plus something age group was the most uptight and reluctant to let their
inner child come out to play. There were 2 boxes of hats at Church for those
who forgot to bring their own silly hat, the ladies even made some truly
bizarre hats either for themselves or their men folk. It was fun to have the
Church lesson read Dr.Susse style (I wonder whose idea that was?) Cur and
Needles did a skit, it which Cur played the woebegone henpecked husband a
sort of cross between the Maytag man and Norman Glegg of the British TV show
Last of the Summer Wine. As for Needles she played her role as a cross
between Kelly Bishop of the Gilmore Girls and Kristy Alley of the Jenny
Craig TV commercials.

The idea was to get the older Church members more in line with the modern
way of doing things, but as it turned out they were the more hip and the
younger Church members the more traditional. Imagine the scene, the over the
hill crowd either wearing some truly silly hats, caps or bonnets, as if that
were not enough some of the more senior male Church members were wearing
some truly awful wigs to cover their receding (if not total loss) hair line.
Cur wore one of those 17 century wigs and spoke in the old style colonial
manner. As for me I wore a Pioneer style bonnet that looked like it was high
on acid. As for our skit, it was all about Political Correctness gone awry
in the home. Later Cur lead the Church in the singing of a 2 thousand year
old Yiddish folk song, this song has a really fast beat to it and the female
Church members have to sing the counter verse against the male Church
members not as easy as it sounds.
